Career Assessments

We offer computerized assessment tools, which are used to assist you in your career decision making. The tools described below are utilized by our Career Development Facilitators to help you expand and explore career options and/or choosing or changing your major. UNM Career Services serves all UNM students and alumni free of charge who are eligible to apply for experiential education, employment opportunities, or admission to graduate/professional schools. UNM alumni are required to submit a copy of their unofficial transcript to document UNM alumni status. Career Services offers professional career assessments for $15 each to students and alumni. Career Assessments are available to community members at a package rate of $75 for both assessments, or $40 each. This package includes the career assessment and an interpretation of results by a certified Career Development Facilitator.

Strong Interest Inventory

Cost: current student/alumni members $15 and community members $40

The Strong Interest Inventory (SII) measures interests in a broad range of occupations, work activities, leisure activities, and school subjects. It provides a comparison of individual interests with people working in different occupations who are satisfied with their career choices. It increases self-awareness by suggesting particular environments in which individuals like to learn and work, and types of activities people find satisfying.

Myers Briggs Type Indicator

Cost: current student/alumni members $15 and community members $40

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is the most widely used personality inventory. It is used to increase self-awareness and to help individuals understand and appreciate the differences of others. The MBTI measures preferences in four different areas and produces a personality type for each individual. It assists in career decision-making by providing information about what personality types are most often represented in different career fields.
