The Public Service Career Showcase 2008
Thursday, November 20, 2008
UNM Student Union Building Ballroom

Event Description

The University of New Mexico (UNM) Office of Career Services invites you to register for the Public Service Career Showcase (PSCS), focusing on federal, state, and municipal career opportunities. The event is a collaborative effort between The University of New Mexico, the New Mexico Consortium of Career Educators and the United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

We take this opportunity to express our appreciation to OPM Director, Linda M. Springer, for her leadership and support of this important outreach opportunity. Under her direction, OPM has committed funding for federal agencies (see below) who attend the UNM Public Service Career Showcase.

Federal Recruiters: OPM is supporting the event by covering the registration fee for recruiters from non-uniformed federal recruiting organizations. Funding is limited to approximately 50 registrations, so we encourage you to register as soon as possible in order to take advantage of this fantastic support! NOTE: New Mexico State University (Las Cruces) is hosting their Public Service Career Showcase on November 18, 2008. Information about NMSU career fairs is available at http://careerservices.nmsu.edu/.

The UNM Public Service Career Showcase is scheduled for November 20, 2008. Registration includes one six-foot table, VIP parking for one vehicle, and catering support for up to two recruiters (breakfast and lunch).

The career fair will be in the Student Union Building ballroom, and is open to job seeker traffic from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We had 61 hiring organizations and 844 students and community members attend the 2007 event, and expect similar attendance for the 2008 federal career day. Designed to give you maximum impact for your recruiting efforts, targeted marketing will encourage students from the following institutions to attend:

  • The University of New Mexico (Albuquerque, Los Alamos, Taos and Valencia)
  • Central New Mexico Community College
  • Eastern New Mexico University (Portales and Roswell)
  • Luna Vo-Tech Community College
  • New Mexico Highlands University (Las Vegas)
  • New Mexico State University (Grants)
  • New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (Socorro)
  • Santa Fe Community College
  • Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute

Registration Fee:

  • $275.00

Registrations after November 6, 2008 are subject to approval of the career fair coordinator, Mary Montaño, 505-277-9145.

Registration cancellations after November 6, 2008 are subject to a $50.00 administrative fee.
